Wilson, Wyoming
Original house in the form of a traditional barn in the "wild" West of the USA, near the town of Wilson, south of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
The clients' wishes for the architects of the multi-functional "barn": A guest house, a fitness room for training and a large garage - a workshop where the owner can satisfy his passion for restoring vintage cars, motorbikes and bicycles. The customers decided on the shape and image of the future building after studying the precedents in the neighbourhood. Due to the northern orientation, the modern panoramic window of the "fitness room" offers a wonderful panorama of the Grand Teton National Park mountain range.
Aged natural wood in grey and brown tones was used for the exterior and interior trim. The structural design of the house is a system of wood and steel trusses on a 4-inch module. The traditional roof form is optimal for the heavy snow load typical of the area.
The lower level of the structure is given over to a garage for the owner's retro collection and a large workshop. The upper level has a gym, a small kitchen and a guest area with two bedrooms and a bathroom.
