S’Estaca: The estate of actor Michael Douglas on the Spanish island of Mallorca

Michael Douglas Lists His Island Estate

S'Estaca, Michael Douglas's 770,000 square metre estate on the west coast of Mallorca, situated on a mountainside near the village of Valldemossa. The estate was built in 1867 by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, of the Habsburg family, and was purchased by Douglas in 1990 for $3,500,000.

Michael Douglas has renovated seven separate buildings, modernising them to modern standards of comfort. The result is ten bedrooms and ten bathrooms with antique wood, copper and marble baths....  After the renovation, the estate can accommodate up to twenty guests with spacious living rooms, multimedia room, library with reading room, gym, spa and a private suite with fireplace, terrace and beautiful sea views. The classic wine cellar houses a vault of original local wines. There is also a large swimming pool that makes guests forget that the beach is nearby, a Moorish pavilion and a private pier with marina. The main S'Estaca's main attraction is the fertile land with rich orchards, olive groves and vineyards.

Since Michael Douglas, together with his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, today mainly spend their time between their homes in New York and Bermuda and rarely visit their Spanish estate, the decision was made to sell it.
