Zannier Sonop: a unique tented hotel in the Namibian desert

Namibian desert, 220km south from Sossusvlei, Namibia, Africa

The unique Zannier Sonop Tented Camp is located in the southern Namib Desert, in the middle of an amazing desert landscape that you fall in love with from the first seconds with its beauty. This extraordinary hotel is designed in the vintage style of the 1920s. Ten spacious tents are available for those wishing to take a unique journey into the colourful era of the British colonial past.

The hotel is located on the southern edge of the Namib Desert, an hour and a half flight from Windhoek, within the 5,600-hectare Sonop Private Nature Reserve.

The Hotel Zannier Sonop is geared towards showcasing the richness of the desert: the scenic panoramic views are impressive in their grandeur, while the ample choice of leisure activities allows guests to explore the Namibian desert and its fauna first-hand. Each evening, guests can sample exotic gastronomic delights of the local cuisine, while candelabras and silverware create a nostalgic mood, complemented by excellent service.

The interiors are well decorated with antiques and real rarities, precious woods and colourful carpets, allowing lovers of history and exoticism to feel like real discoverers.

The hotel has two Two-Bedroom Tents, eight One-Bedroom Tents, WI-FI internet access, two bars, restaurant, SPA, outdoor heated swimming pool, gym, outdoor cinema and airstrip.

Sonop is the fifth hotel opened by Zannier Hotels, the second in Namibia after Omaanda. Zannier Hotels is owned by Arnaud Zannier, a descendant of a French business family known for clothing manufacturing and vineyards. All Zannier hotels are decorated by Geraldine Dohon. Angelina Jolie was the first guest at the Zannier resort in Cambodia, Phum Baitang and it was she who suggested that Arnaud visit Namibia. She was thus indirectly involved in the creation of the Sonop Hotel.
