Florence, Italy
Villa il Gioiello is located in the hills near Florence, characterized by the presence of narrow and winding streets and delimited by characteristic irregular stone walls. An important building complex, which belonged to the Vectors in the 15th and 16th centuries, surrounded by greenery and a few kilometers away from the historic center.
Pierattelli Architetture: "We had to preserve the atmosphere and ancient soul of this place by creating a single-family home with timeless charmand a constantly evolving story recounted by the many works of art by important twentieth-century figures such as Jannis Kounellis , Ettore Spalletti, Alighiero Boetti and Mario Schifano."
One of the main difficulties encountered during the renovation was connecting the various spaces of the building together, which at the time of purchase had multiple entrances and some rooms were not accessible from the main volumes. By introducing new staircases and designing a new layout, it was possible to harmonise the spaces with each other. Another major difficulty was to subdivide the large living room on the first floor by inserting some bedrooms in addition to the new library while maintaining some of the villa's historical features.
Between refined atmospheres and ancient suggestions, at Villa Il Gioiello modern elements combine with traces of the past. Timeless works of art and custom-designed furnishings create a delicate and balanced contrast of memories, stories, encounters.
The Villa’s 700 sqm are on three levels plus a basement that are connected by a an internal lift.
A staircase with organic shapes characterizes the master bedroom environment: a refined and singular structure in Canaletto Walnut with a transparent parapet. The bedroom is distinguished by the wall and ceiling mounted boiseires. The flooring is made up of recycled Indian Teak tiles bordered by a Teack wood frame.
