Ridgewood, Queens, NYC, USA
Erica Sellers and Jeremy Silberberg have created a one-of-a-kind home that they hope will make visitors feel like they're in another world…
Rather than simply playing with colors and patterns, or trying to channel a particular style like some interior designers would, they arrived at a unique creative vision that celebrated dark, gothic, even macabre elements. The goal was to transform that strangeness into something comfortable.
House of S II is a meticulously transformed Ridgewood 3-story residential rowhouse and showroom. Every detail, from the architectural blueprint to the furnishings, transcends categorization, is distinctly cinematic, and exudes Studio S II. House of S II showcases the duo’s category-defying sculptural furniture: functional art that blends contemporary methodologies with classic techniques.
An embodiment of Studio S II’s ethos, the space is a collaborative aesthetic unorthodoxy, vision of queer identity, and functional design. S II layers antiques, heirlooms, collected objects, and other artists’ work alongside their own original pieces, constructing disparate parts into unified language. The space coalesces into a living, breathing experiment where design, art, and identity collide.
House of S II proudly features furniture, textiles, and art objects created by designers from across their creative community. This collection converges Studio S II’s creations with those of fellow established and emerging artists and designers, representing more than the completion of a mere residence. House of S II fosters an environment where deviation flourishes and visitors are encouraged to step into its dimension.
Erica Sellers :
“The house became our first project and our baby to really showcase what we could build together”
