Contekst Architectuur: In 2017 we first visited the project site that immediately captured our attention due to its vast potential. Despite being left abandoned and neglected for a long period, we saw an opportunity to transform the group of buildings into a hospitality destination.

The overarching concept of the project Câlin Valreas was to recreate a French village, where the trio of guest houses are connected via a series of pathways, evoking a sense of journey and discover

Main Design Intent: to honour the building’s legacy and connection to the landscape.

The project Câlin Valreas incorporates the artistic element into the structure as a reference to the area’s reputation as a place for art and artists. Adding curiousness and meaning to the walls and spaces, a curated group of artworks has been integrated into the interior, representing both young and established artists, notably Belgian.
